**A Collection of Old Books — Six Volumes Filled with Character and History**

There is something wonderfully romantic about a stack of old books. The worn leather, faded gilt lettering, aged pages, and marbled edges tell a story before a single page is opened.

This decorative bundle of six books is perfect for creating a cozy, old-world atmosphere in a home library, on a bookshelf, atop a vintage writing desk, or styled in a cottage, traditional, or antique-inspired interior.

These are not pristine modern reproductions chosen for their uniformity. They have the wonderfully imperfect appearance of books that have been handled, read, treasured, and lived with.

**The collection includes:**

- **The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire** — Edward Gibbon
- **Wilhelm Meister’s Apprenticeship** — Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, from the Harvard Classics Shelf of Fiction, Volume XIV
- **Père Goriot and Eugénie Grandet** — Honoré de Balzac, translated by Ellen Marriage
- **Complete Poetical Works of Francis Thompson** — The Modern Library, leather-bound, with a May 1913 note attributed to Francis Thompson’s Literary Executor
- **Lingard’s History of England** — Volume XI, Second Edition, with marbled page edges
- **German-language leather-bound primer** — a small, heavily worn volume bearing the wording “Ger. Tract Primer”; full title and publication date have not been established

**A little about their condition**

These books have genuine signs of age and use, including worn and damaged spines, scuffed and stained covers, faded gilt, age spots, and aged page edges. The Lingard volume has marbled page edges and age spotting throughout. The Balzac volume contains extensive handwritten notes, underlining, and comments throughout its pages, showing evidence of a previous reader’s close engagement with the text.

The small German book is particularly worn, and its publication date is unknown. Dates and editions have not been established for every volume.

Please expect imperfections and variations from book to book. These are old, well-used books, not pristine collector-grade examples. Please examine all photographs carefully for details of their appearance and condition.

**A decorative bundle with old-world charm**

Display them together for a layered, collected look, or separate the volumes throughout your home to add character to shelves, side tables, desks, and reading corners. They would also be lovely for book-themed photography, vintage displays, or styling a literary-inspired space.

You are purchasing all six books as one decorative bundle.

A charming collection for anyone who appreciates the romance of old books and the beauty of things that have been loved and used.

**Please note:** The books are sold as a decorative collection. Exact publication details and dates have not been confirmed for every volume.
