There is something wonderfully romantic about old books that have travelled through time. Their worn leather, delicate gold lettering, and beautifully patterned covers seem to carry whispers of another century.
This handsome set of three antique books by American author Oliver Wendell Holmes is a lovely find for anyone who appreciates the beauty and character of old things.
Bound in rich burgundy leather, each volume features a black title panel, intricate gilt decoration, and a distinctive marbled cover in shades of burgundy, cream, and dark ink. Together, they make a wonderfully cohesive display, with all the charm of a traditional Victorian library.

Published by Houghton, Osgood and Company in Boston, these volumes date from the late nineteenth century.
**CONDITION & CHARACTER**
These are genuine antique books with the honest wear of more than a century of life. The leather bindings show rubbing, scratches, cracks, scuffs, and areas of loss, while the gilt decoration has faded in places. The marbled covers have their own distinctive aged beauty.
The pages examined appear intact, and no writing was noticed in the passages inspected. The books have a faint, characteristic old-bookshop fragrance.

Returns
